I’m looking for employment at a cannabis growing facility

Once I was laid off from our call center task last month, I figured I could simply find work in retail or something similar.

  • Surprisingly, since our state raised its minimum wage last year, a lot of entry level positions are either already taken or are highly competitive.

I was able to get section time work at a grocery store during the time that I continued to look for another full time task. As many say, when you’re desperate for steady work, finding a task becomes a task itself. You get in the habit of scouring numerous websites and other posted listings to find some diamond in the rough. I had little real payoff with this approach, so I decided to take a long shot and start reaching out to a few odd companies. The first corporation was a music retailer that operates a website and sells their inventory out of a warehouse. All sales are done electronically and are packaged into boxes to be shipped out directly to clients’ homes. Unluckily, they weren’t looking for additional help. But the minute dealer, this time a large recreational marijuana corporation in our state, was looking for help at their growing facility. They needed some extra helping hands with trimming and packaging cannabis flower buds after they’re harvested from the cultivation rooms. Everything inside the large facility is controlled and set to a steady and consistent indoor weather conditions. Usually the a/c is a bit colder than what I like, but it has to remain that way to prevent microscopic mold buildup from getting on the dry cured flower buds. It’s taking time to finish our training, but so far I love now working at a marijuana farming facility.
