My parents were actually super strict when I was growing up.
This meant doing a lot of chores, having a lot of rules, and going to church service twice a week.
There was never any alcohol allowed in our home, and only during the holidays might our dad adore a glass of wine. I don’t mean to imply my folks were cruel, or bad people at all, they were just actually old school and hardline in their beliefs. 1 day after church I had our mind blown, and it changed the way I saw the world. I was just walking around, killing time, when I saw the church preacher smoking cannabis. At first I thought it was a cigarette however when I inhaled it, I knew that distinct cannabis smell, and I was floored. The preacher laughed a little, and explained to me that Jesus had never said cannabis was wrong, or a mortal sin. Cannabis is a gift from the earth, a gift from God, that was put here for all of us to use and enjoy, and it’s upset that so several nice people didn’t understand that. I asked him why he didn’t ever talk about cannabis in service, and he answered particularly that the congregation was not yet ready for that message. After that his use of cannabis stayed a secret between me and the preacher, I never mentioned it to anyone, however it changed me. If our parents were this wrong about cannabis, what else were there wrong about? It was just a couple of years later that I attended a private school celebration and was provided cannabis for the first time. Do you think I tried it?
